PL Handbells Cliched a Gold with Honors Award.
I'm really glad that our efforts have finally paid off. Yesterday, was a day of anxiety and excitment, and yes. Most of the sec 4s cried about 3 times yesterday. You know, 29th April 2005 is gonna be a day that i will always fondly remember. Under the gudience from Mr Fong for about 4 to 5 months have indeed made all the handbellers learn to appreciate and discover the soul for the music that we are playing, despite the many times that we have been practicing. Yes, I must admit that it was kind of a drag whenever we kept practicing our parts over and over again and the song was "dead" in that sense. It was only a month ago that i really felt the passion coming out from my soul when playing the bells. And really, I was totally looking forward to Tuesdays and Fridays afternoons-- the days where i could play the bells. Haha, you could probably ask my peers, man. I'm always praising the bells, and all the other handbellers along with Mr Fong.
Anyway, it was our time yesterday. Haha, i must say that ALL were feeling equally high on the way to Singapore Conference Hall. We were singing songs, laughing, cheering almost endlessly. Haha, bet even our coolest girl of the whole, Theodora was feeling high as well. Went to SCH, still feeling so high, and i guess despite we were wearing our long gowns, and looking ever-so-gentle, we were still talking very loudly and laughing. We even went to do our Handbell Cheer! Haha! It's really funny thinking about it right now. Can you imagine, running with our high heels and long gowns, cheering and talking so loudly as the other schools were so properly behaved? Hah. I guess this is how the PL bellers relieved their stress. Even Mr Fong said that we behaved very roughly.. Sigh!
Went up on stage and gave our best shot. This time, we were really moving with the song and not because we're being showy or whatsoever. We played our music with our soul, and expressed them out sincerely with our physical movements. If i'mnot wrong, i actually let out a laugh when Mr Fong carried out that kinda of expression at us when we were entertaining the audience. It was really cute! Hehs! Man, at the corner of my eye, i saw the entire choir moving and swaying along with the songs, it was so cool. Very touching, really. We have never moved that enthusiatically until yesterday. Impressive work, bellers! Although things werent exactly right as the usual accidents broke out like accidentally clashing the bells, all was good!
We saw other schools such as the MGS and RGS perform and i must say that all the other schools that we have met were techincally good. Emms. Most of them had to play bells and chimes together, and it was kind of an eye opener for me. They do actions with the bells that i haven really seen before. SCGS did the same kind of genre as us, and we saw her conducting for them. I'm sorry to say this, but she really had that arrogance on her face and it was a turn off for most of us. Shall not write anything else about it over here in case it becomes offensive.
I seriously thought that RGS could have cliched a gwh award. How do i say this-- i must say that when i saw some schools, i actually felt quite discourage because they did equally well. The results were quite a shock.
Anyhow, when we were awaiting for the results, i gripped on Maureen's and Mummy Lynette's hand really tightly. I've never felt so nervous before. And when the announcer stumbled upon the words "Paya Lebar". Oh man, the feeling was darn scary! You know, tears were already arising from my eyeballs. Haha. And went we heard him went " Gold with Honors", the whole entire hall were filled with our screams and tears. We were supposed to be composed but we didnt manage that quite well. We were really elated. Really. God has been kind to all of us! I could not take the great news in that fast, it took me quite a while to manage to swallow the fact that we had gwh. haha! The whole entire atmosphere went maddening.
Now i understand the true feeling of "Crying with joy" I mean, part of me wanted to laugh out loud and the other part of me felt wrinkled up and everything. Oh gosh. It was a wonderful feeling. Having to cry and laugh at the same time.
Sheesh. Shall blog later again. My eyes are really tired. Hahaha! :)
